BRIEF HISTORY & BACKGROUND

OF THE HUMANITARIAN ISSUE

The Stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh camps migrated from Indian minority provinces to East Pakistan after the division of India in 1947. They opted for Pakistan on the invitation of the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah, to run the government departments, especially the railway system of East Pakistan. They lived in almost all major cities of East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh). They left their homeland in 1947 not for the land of East Pakistan but only for Pakistan.

In Dec 1970, General Elections were held in both East and West Pakistan. On the whole the Awami League won the election in East Pakistan with absolute majority. Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop awareness about the status of non-Bengalis, commonly known as Stranded Pakistanis or Biharis, in Bangladesh Camps. They are stranded in the camps of Bangladesh since 1971. Our mission is to create awareness about the massacre of those innocent non-Bengalis/Biharis who were living in various cities of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Due to their support for a united Pakistan, the separatists and extremist Bengalis massacred them. Most of the historians ignored this part of atrocity deliberately or unknowingly.
